Message from the Vice-Principal
June is always a fun and exciting month for everyone. Students will be going on field studies, participating in outdoor activities and trying to remain focused while completing their academic work in the classroom. We had a wonderful turn out at the Volunteer Tea where we said thank you to all of our parents who work tirelessly for the school throughout the year to ensure the success of our programs. We are also planning transition visits from the annex to Nelson and Lord, writing report cards and of course fun activities so that the students will remember their time here at Garibaldi as they get ready to move on to their new schools. The PAC is also planning a celebration for the school and the community. We hope to see all of you at one event or another this coming month.

Transition to New Schools
Most of our students are very familiar with Lord Nelson School and the principal Mr. Dan Knibbs as we have gone to several events, performances and assemblies throughout the year. We will however have another date where the students will have a tour and spend the recess. We will walk down to Nelson next Wednesday morning, June 6th to have a tour and spend recess there. A tour for our students attending Dr. A. R. Lord will also be organized during the third week of June.
Sports Day is tomorrow! Thank you to the PAC for organizing the hot lunch. Parents are welcome to come down and join us. We’ll be starting at 9:10 in the gym with our cheers and structured stations are from 9:20 to 10:20 on the field and in the gym. If it is raining heavily, all activities will be in the gym. Unstructured stations will take place from 11:00 until 12:00. These stations will take place in the library, downstairs hallway and the undercover area.
Thanks to everyone for coming out. We had a wonderful turnout. Volunteers are so appreciated.
New Brighton Park and Grouse Mountain
We have started to plan some fun celebration days for the children so that they will always fondly remember their time at Garibaldi. We have planned field trips to New Brighton Park and Grouse Mountain. New Brighton Park will be an all day picnic on Thursday, June 21st and we hope that parents will join us. The staff will take the students to Grouse Mountain for another fun day on Wednesday, June 27th. More information will be coming home specific to each trip but in the meantime, mark your calendars for June 21st and June 27th!
Year End Assembly
The end of the year assembly will take place on Thursday, June 28th at 9:00 am. All students will be honored as they move on to their new schools but we’ll have a specific focus on our grade 4 students moving up into grade 5. We’ll also be honoring our staff and wishing them all the best wishes in their new schools.
A few important dates to remember:
Week of June 4th to June 8th is the last book exchange. All school library books are due. Library will be closed from June 8th onward for organization and inventory.
If you receive an overdue notice and you feel that your child has returned the book please have your child send me a note, or drop by and I will search the shelves. Once all library books are handed in I can begin the collection inventory.
Thanks for your support! Happy Reading!
