Hello parents – for your information from a fellow parent in the neighbourhood:
Apparently every 14 months there is about a two period where the risk of a major earthquake is higher – so much so that the seismologist highlighted in this article won’t go into an underground parking lot!
The high risk period started on Feb 18 so theoretically we should be getting close to the end for this year. In 2018, it will be sometime in late April/May. This website which is very technical provides more details http://www.pnsn.org/tremor/tremor-log/ets-event-of-winter-2017.
ETS stands for Episodic Tremor and Slip (ETS).
The best way to feel better about earthquakes is to be prepared. I still have lots to do myself! See http://www2.gov.bc.ca/gov/content/safety/emergency-preparedness-response-recovery/preparedbc for a bunch of info.
